Masters Monday

Last month we also ran our inaugural Masters Monday which was a great success. Full English breakfast and coffee while watching The Masters on the big screen before playing some golf and competing for our very own green jacket!

Congratulations to Will Wilson who was our inaugural champion. His nett 66 combined with Tom Kim’s 66 at The Masters was easily good enough to take out the win and slide on the green jacket.

Our other winners were Richard Phillips in Division 1 and Peter Pinfold in Division 2.

Congrats to Jono Patten who aced the 7th hole on April 13. Great shot!

Course Update

We have now seeded the 16th and 17th holes following the recent discing and power harrow work completed last week. These areas are being watered manually at the moment to ensure germination. We plan on seeding the other prepared areas around the practice pitching green, and the Links Road driving range soon. Further discing and power harrowing will be done on the areas around the 2nd tee, the 9th hole and around the 8th green. This contracted work will take place tomorrow morning, as such, we have delayed the start sheet and everyone will be teeing off from the 10th hole. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility with this change.

On-Course Etiquette

We are getting a few reports that members are not looking after the course as well as they could. After opening the green on the 8th hole for the first time last weekend, members noticed a substantial amount of pitch marks on the green after only a few groups had played the hole.

Please, please do your part to look after our course. Pretend that you’re camping in one of our pristine National Parks. When you depart, no one should know that you were there. That means, repairing your pitch marks, and those of others you see on the greens, replacing your divots, raking bunkers, keeping your trundlers off the greens and tee blocks, and putting your rubbish in the bin.

Please also give way to our green keepers. Please be careful of our staff when out on course, the green keepers have the right of way, so please be patient and allow them to finish their task before hitting your shot toward them. Thank you.

For those who are a little unfamiliar with some of the etiquette of golf, here are a couple of quick videos that outlines a few key rules and explain how to repair pitch marks.

Golf Etiquette

Repairing a Pitch Mark

The Two-Ball Rule

If you are out on the course by yourself, you are welcome to play two balls to get a bit of extra play in. But, please don’t treat the course as your private practice facility. Play your two balls, but please do not drop multiple balls in the middle of the fairway and pitch into the greens. We don’t want to see groups of divots like this…

Our course needs looking after, it is on all of us to do our part to look after it. Thank you.
